The VFA-27 "Royal Maces" is a U.S. Navy strike fighter squadron known for its iconic mace emblem. Originally established in 1967 as VA-27, it transitioned from the A-7 Corsair II to the F/A-18 Hornet in 1991 and later to the advanced F/A-18E Super Hornet in 2004. Based at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, the squadron is part of Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5), frequently deployed aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76)
